Youth Learning In a Fun Environment (Youth LIFE) After-School Program
Youth LIFE is an after-school academic and social enrichment program for students in the 1st through 5th grade who live in Allegheny County.
Youth LIFE provides students with a safe and educational place to spend their weekday afternoons and evenings. Youth LIFE provides students an opportunity to improve their math and reading skills by using an online curriculum called Study Island. Students are also provided homework help, plus time for arts and crafts and recreation.
The program is currently virtual and takes place Monday – Friday, 4:00PM – 7:00PM, from mid-September through late April. The program is completely FREE to all participants.

Youth LIFE Outcomes 2019-2020
- In recent years, over 95% of students with sufficent data utilizing Study Island improved in math or reading.
- In recent years, over 90% of all youth participants with sufficient data did not miss 10% or more of school days.
- 100% (50/50) of all 1st-3rd graders successfully participated in the new social/emotional curriculum Second Step.
- 100% (100/100) of students who participated in the tutorial services were promoted to the next grade
